Enid, Oklahoma had its beginnings in the Cherokee Strip Land Run of 189 The opening of the Cherokee Strip land run of 1893, which began the settlement of Enid and Garfield County, Oklahoma 3. Designated as the County Seat of "O" County (later renamed Garfield County), it changed from a lonely spot on the Chisholm Trail to a crowded city in one day!

Enid quickly grew North Grand Avenue, in historical downtown Enid, Oklahoma, showing horse and wagon rigs on a muddy street into a major center of agriculture, commerce, oil, and industry. The mud streets with horses and wagons gave way to paved streets and electric streetcars, which in turn gave way to automobiles.

The Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Enid provides a glimpse of the past in its tour around the town sq East Broadway Street, in historical downtown Enid, Oklahoma, showing the Trolley Car system uare. Re-enactors bring to life some of the interesting events and people that give Enid its colorful story.
